Job Overview:
The Principal Logistics and Trade Compliance Specialist interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex logistics and trade compliance-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Logistics and Trade Compliance Specialist may lead functional teams or projects and is regarded as a logistics and trade compliance specialist. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in logistics and trade compliance and broad knowledge of the supply chain function's logistics and trade compliance discipline.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Work on projects where assigned
Actively coordinate with Expediting and other subfunctions to execute the project
Understand and comply with Unifi processes
Execute medium complexity logistics problems and escalate when necessary
Understand and execute tendering process with logistics service providers
Use project-specific specifications (e.g., packing & marking instructions)
Conduct logistics surveys as needed
Review transport and lifting sketches as needed
Support the Logistics performance review process
Support the project status reporting process
Review and validate shipping documentation
Manage and execute logistics-related operational matters in line with project requirements and cost-effectively
Ensure mobilization and demobilization efforts for project cargo are carried out compliantly with relevant regulations
Operate by all company guidelines and procedures
Check and validate freight forwarders’ invoices
Appointment of approved Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers for logistics-related shipments
Ensure the operations are in line with the company policies in terms of Trade Compliance
Coordinate and manage cargo transportation activities for the project vessels and project cargo
Review of project load lists and cargo classes to ensure project compliance with all relevant regulations
Liaise with internal/external stakeholders
Regular reporting requirements
Use of systems and data entry to satisfy record-keeping requirements
Bid solicitation, award, and execution of logistics transactions
Liaise with Logistics Service Providers, Shipping Agents, Customs Brokers, and internal departments, including project teams, Engineering, Marine, and Traffic
Seek clarification when questions arise
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management (or a relevant discipline) or HSD/GED/IGCSE with 10 years of relevant experience
8-12 years of relevant experience
Heavy transport experience, configuration, sourcing, and capital project logistics and familiar with Multi-modal transport preferred
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Demonstrate attention to detail, reliability, and ability to learn new topics and technology quickly
Well-organized and detail-oriented
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Has a solid understanding of logistics systems used to support the process of project execution
Possesses a good understanding of trade compliance regulations
Candidate shall have minimum 15 years experiences in Project cargo logistics activities with an EPC contractor and/or Freight Forwarding company
