The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Massage Therapist with a June 2024.

The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024.

CORE JOB SUMMARY

The University of Miami is currently seeking a Massage Therapist to work in Doral. The incumbent provides massage therapy services to patients, caregivers and stakeholder by acting on the body providing soft tissue manipulation primarily using manual techniques including pressure, tension, motion or vibration with the primary target t issues being muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints or other connective tissue for patients above the age of 17 years with cancer or in need of care to treat general medical problems with the intent to increase wellness, relaxation, stress reduction, pain relief, postural improvement and/or provide general or specific therapeutic benefits.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):

  • Table and chair massages for cancer patients and survivors pre-treatment and post-treatment

  • Will be wonting in a variety of settings: Outpatient, Inpatient and Infusion areas

  • Will be responsible for documenting in patients' medical records. This is done via EMR. Appropriate training will be given during orientation.

  • Management of inventories and treatment moms/areas

  • Supervision and training of any additional oncology massage therapists

  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.

  • Participates in quality and safety improvement activities as directed.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned_

Knowledge, Skllls,and Abilities:

  • Must provide excellent customer service and be flexible to accommodate moving patient schedules and needs

  • Confident technical skills, innovative thinking , precise lime management , superior organizational skills and promote teamwork and collaboration.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness.

  • Medical terminology required

Education Requirements! Essential Requirements):

  • Must be currently licensed as a Massage Therapist in the State of Florida w i th certifications specific to oncology Patients

  • High school diploma

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

  • One year experience required; three years of experience in a clinical setting with cancer patients preferred
