Job Summary
Are you meticulously analytical and passionate about uncovering insights from data to drive meaningful change? The Office of Institutional Research here at Arapahoe Community College is looking for a detail-oriented and inquisitive Data Analyst
From identifying enrollment trends and retention patterns to exploring graduation outcomes, you work will touch every corner of the college experience. By conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, you'll provide the data that fuels innovation and helps us better serve our students, faculty, and broader community.
Description of Job
Typical responsibilities of a Data Analyst here at ACC include the following:
Data Management Use programming logic to write queries and develop reports using business intelligence tools, currently COGNOS.
Analysis and Internal Reporting Support and contribute to a culture of data informed decision-making by designing reports that present accurate, consistent data in a clear and compelling manner.
External Reporting and Survey Coordinate data collection for VE-135, the Community College Survey of Student Engagement, student course evaluations, and others as needed. Compile and report institutional data requested by external agencies and stakeholders such as the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Common Data Set, College Board, and governmental agencies.
A strong candidate will have the following characteristics:
Technical Prowess- Proficiency in tools like SQL, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, R, or Python for data analysis, visualization, and reporting coupled with experience with data cleaning, data preparation, and ensuring data integrity.
Analytical Problem Solver- Precision in working with data to ensure accuracy and reliability of reports and the ability to analyze trends, identify issues, and provide actionable insights.
Collaborative Communication Style- Experience working with diverse stakeholders such as faculty, staff, and administrators, to understand their data needs and a willingness to guide others in interpreting data and using tools to promote data-informed decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a field with data analytics, statistics or related expertise or the equivalent combination of education and the specified experience.
Two (2) years of experience in data management including methods for data extraction, storage, analysis, and interpretation of results.
Proven experience working with complex spreadsheets and databases to create queries, tables, and data dashboard visualization.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience in a higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in math/statistics, computer programming, social sciences, or related field.
Familiarity with fundamentals of Institutional Research in areas related to students and faculty.
Experience with relational databases and statistical software
Experience designing, administering, and analyzing surveys.
