Aquatics Supervisor, Downers Grove, IL

Help lead & grow the swim lessons program, 25 hours per week

Under the supervision of the Fitness Director, you will be responsible for the recruiting, training, and management of swim instructors. You will assist with the development and implementation of programming, staff trainings, and engage with members. The Aquatics Supervisor oversees scheduling, payroll, and training for a staff of 20-25 part-time instructors and leads swim instruction program. Must work Sundays 1:45-6:15PM, an 8-hour shift on Mondays, and the remaining hours are flexible.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assists with management and supervision of Aquatic Staff including recruiting, training, scheduling and payroll.

  • Provides a high level of customer service and serves as a representative for the Aquatic Program. Manages phone calls, answers questions, facilitates user groups and directs patrons to appropriate staff. Assists Fitness Director with current projects.

  • Interprets and helps enforce policies and procedures of the Aquatic Department. Assists with facility maintenance and cleaning.

  • Develops and implements Good Sam Swim, water safety, and aquatic health programs and activities.

  • Instructs swim lessons and acts as Facility Supervisor as needed.

  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Role Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED. Ideal applicants will have a Bachelor's Degree in sports management, recreation, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 2+ years of Aquatics experience preferrable in a leadership capacity.

  • Current Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute.

  • Ideal applicants will also have American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification and/or ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & customer service skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.

  • Flu vaccination required.
