About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Manager to join The Health and Safety team of Jumeirah Al Qasr . The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

Administrational:

  • Act as the responsible HSE Technical Authority for the SBU and provide essential technical HSE advice and guidance to the GM and ExCom to keep them compliant with and aware of the latest developments regarding HSE laws, standards and regulations and their impact on the business

  • Develop and formulate HSE strategy and produce a plan for an operational HSE Management System considering the SBUs’ input and business needs. Monitor the implementation of HSE guidelines across the departments at SBU level to ensure alignment with corporate strategic objectives

  • Ensure compliance of the SBU to all Health, Safety and Environment management procedures and controls to provide world class and luxurious hospitality services to its guests and protect the Shareholders’ interests

  • Working with Technical Services Department (TSD) to assess compliance of operations with HSE and Fire Life and Safety processes and standards, identify areas of risk and propose respective improvements

  • Facilitate, investigate, and analyse incidents/accidents and make sure lessons learned are shared and communicated to the concerned parties

  • Assist with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Food Safety Management System, Programmes and Processes

Operational:

  • Address Food Safety and Hygiene issues promptly and effectively

  • Carry out investigations for all alleged food poisoning and foreign body cases

  • Monitor trends and recommend pro-active action plans to remedy potential problems

  • Manage and advise on the HSE components of all projects & events taking place within the SBU

  • Responsible for the preparation/implementation of the department budget and monitoring the financial forecast. Ensure the Group HSE budget is cascaded to all concerned within the SBU

  • Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety & Hygiene related issues are resolved

  • Carry out HSE training such as (not limited to) Health & Safety Awareness, Fire Safety Awareness, Manual Handling, Chemical Safety Awareness, Risk Assessment, Environmental awareness, etc. for all the colleagues

  • In connection and alignment with the Sustainability Director and relevant stakeholders, develop and implement the environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the organisation on the environment

About You:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or HSE discipline or equivalent from an accredited and renowned University.

  • Certificate of IOSH or NEBOSH or any regional equivalent diploma/certificate

  • Master’s degree in HSE discipline or equivalent from an accredited and renowned University
