Assistant Treasurer - Leading Funding and Projects team
- Senior Director Level Reporting To: Group Treasurer
A broad role within the Group Treasury team with responsibility to lead funding and strategic projects related to Shire’s interaction with banks and the financial markets.
The role involves interaction with the CFO and senior finance staff within both central and local finance teams, third party relationships with the Group’s banking partners in multiple geographies and the credit rating agencies.
The role requires deputizing for the Group Treasurer and management / coaching of the Funding and Projects team.
Arrange debt facilities to enable funding of Business Development transactions.
Negotiate and maintain longer term financing solutions.
Assess appropriate funding strategy.
Provide Treasury advice:
- The provision of Treasury support and project advisory for BD, Corporate Functions and other business projects.
Ensure efficient financing structures:
Oversee and drive reviews of global transnational banking facilities and structures and assess opportunities to reduce costs and complexity.
Negotiate and manage global trade and other facilities provided by banks.
Improve working capital management across the Group.
Support Internal Controls / Governance:
An active member of the Treasury Committee you will regularly present to the Committee on compliance with policies set by the Board.
Prepare Board and Audit Committee papers and slides on various matters (e.g. Dividend paper, Audit Committee slides).
Assess and lead actions related to legal developments relevant to Shire’s relationships with financial markets.
Promote Treasury Policies globally.
Banking / credit rating agency relationship management:
- Support the Group Treasurer in the management of the Company's global banking and credit rating agency relationships.
Guide the banking and internal funding and control aspects of Shire’s expansion into new international markets.
Ensure robust access, central visibility and control of subsidiary’s accounts and financial liabilities.
Ad-hoc projects as required by the Group Treasurer Also proving support to operational processes and issues as and when required.
Education and Experience Requirements
MCT qualified, or relevant postgraduate Degree (e.g. M.Sc. in Finance or MBA) or Accountancy qualification with relevant experience.
Extensive Treasury Experience in a multinational organization. Experience of managing a wide variety of Treasury issues.
