Shire Business Planning & Operations Manager, Chief of Staff to General Manager Ireland in Dublin, Ireland

Job summary

Working with the General Manager Ireland and Country Leadership Team the Business Planning & Operations role is a unique blend of strategic and operational responsibilities. The role plays an important part in the continued evolution of the Ireland commercial business and is a significant contributor to the development of the Shire business. On the strategic side, the role will interface with the corporate functions to support the development of business and brand plans and help assess business development opportunities. On the operational side the role will work cross functionally to ensure the strategic and operational plans are delivered, the country team works effectively, processes are optimized and followed and regional initiatives / projects are effectively implemented.

This role is ideal to prepare for taking on greater responsibilities within Shire and gain a comprehensive understanding of commercial country operations in a leading biotech company.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • A strong first University degree, preferably a second degree (PhD or MBA)

  • Very strong team player and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional process and project management skills and experience, e.g., from working in consultancy

  • Accustomed to managing a diverse and rapidly changing workload, delivering projects across several teams, timelines and within a matrix structure

  • Track record of strategic and operational planning in a high growth environment

  • Innovative strategic thinker

  • Commercially astute, proactive and self-starter

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Experience, or demonstrable strong interest, in the healthcare industry

Other Requirements

  • Position is office based in central Dublin

  • Travel within Ireland and Europe will be required (circa 10-25%)
