Shire Fixed Assets Accountant in Dublin, Ireland

PRIMARY ROLE

The Fixed Assets Accountant reports to the Fixed Assets & Vat Manager within the Record to Report team. The role works closely with multiple stakeholders including local country finance colleagues and manufacturing plant accountants to support the timely and accurate accounting of Fixed Assets for over 40 entities across Takeda’s European operations.

The role is responsible for assisting in the timely and effective accounting of Fixed Assets, monitor and maintenance of Asset ledgers and Asset under construction reporting and supporting the schedule of activities for the month end close process, including ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the reporting of financial results under US GAAP to the group consolidation team.

The role ensures processes within the Fixed Assets Accounting team remain SOX compliant whilst driving efficiency and consistency at the transactional level.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain accurate and timely maintenance of Fixed Asset ledgers. Perform ongoing maintenance of Fixed Assets master data. Support the timely transfer of AUC balances to the Fixed Assets sub-ledger through close co-ordination with local and plant finance colleagues. Perform the booking and analysis of capital accruals to reflect timely and accurate accounting of all Fixed Asset balances. Manage the creation of capital Internal Orders within SAP to allow the creation of capital PO’s against approve capital budgets. Review and approve capital PO’s as part of the PO approval workflow Assist in the management of internal and external reporting activity of Fixed Asset balances as part of the FA Accounting team. Assist in ensuring that the month end process is executed efficiently to meet all reporting deadlines. Perform periodic reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance of reported Fixed Asset balances. Input into and represent the Fixed Asset accounting team in balance sheet reviews Provide market guidance on issues surrounding Fixed Assets policy and process. Represent the FA Accounting team on process improvement projects and systems initiatives liaising closely with counterparts in USA to ensure overall consistency of process.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required: • Degree or equivalent (preferably in accounting or finance or related discipline) • Qualified or late stage Part Qualified Accountant Preferable • Experience and knowledge of an ERP system • Strong IT skills, particularly MS Excel • Fluency in English

Preferred: • Qualified or late stage Part Qualified Accountant Preferable • Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls • Previous knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry • Experience of working in a shared services environment for a global operation
