SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The purpose of this job is to provide professional expertise as a competent mechanical engineer within a formal engineering process or a major project. Coordinates and performs engineering tasks supporting the mission of the department and/or Volvo GTO serving in a specialist capacity for a complex area. This position requires the ability to interpret the principles, theories, engineering standards, and concepts of an engineering area or assignment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a mechanical engineering authority in multiple areas of assignment requiring limited direction and supervision with significant interaction inside and outside the department.
Assures completion of Order Specification with limited direction and supervision: Emphasis is placed on level of expertise, design release integrity, creativity, analysis, and interaction within internal and external organizations.
Plans, develops, and completes engineering projects within areas of assignment. Performs design, test/validation and/or development projects within areas of assignment with guidance from Lead Engineers.
Creates detailed documentation and technical reports.
Serves as a mentor during onboarding and transitional process.
Utilizes CAD systems to complete packaging and analytical studies.
Assures compliance with all applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARB, GHG, etc.) relating to his/her area of responsibility.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

In the event there are no bidders, and we must recruit externally experience with similar outside systems may be substituted.
Path A
Education: 4 years Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field
Experience: 3 years Related mechanical engineering experience
