Essentia Health Director of Planning, Design and Construction in Duluth, Minnesota

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities • Partners with operational areas to develop, disseminate, and coordinate implementation of organizational initiatives. • Participate in the development of the capital project budgets. • Assists with defining project strategies which are consistent with Essentia Health strategy, policies and procedures, mission, values and goals. • Brings expertise in Lean and Process design improvement to bear on projects and related facility and workflow design. • Proactively develop relationships with contractor and subcontractor community ensuring team has latest industry information. • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and vendors. • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and support effective transfer of information to our shared services teams. • Under minimal supervision, creates a team focus on delivering high levels of customer service and value to the organizations. • Directs and mentors project management staff in continuous improvement and Essentia Standards and processes. • Performs administrative duties and oversight as required to support team. • Exercises considerable latitude and judgement in developing plans, budgets, and resources, directing activities and actions, and determining deliverables. • Present project updates to project leadership and Essentia leadership groups • Directly support and continually improve the work group by working with leadership to create and implement the use of standard tools and processes. • Maintain campus wayfinding and signage program consistently across the markets • Develop and maintain space monitoring and allocation process through the local management teams. • Provide innovative solutions to solve problems and create sustainable operational processes. • Responsible for oversight over aesthetics, design standards, artwork, storage, space management, and furniture.

Education Qualifications:

Work Experience:

Minimum of 10 or more years of experience in Construction Project Management, process improvement and Lean/Six sigma related work. Applicant may possess an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred 15 or more years’ experience leading large teams with complex healthcare experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma certification

  • Master’s degree in business, management, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or related field

  • Certified associate in project management (CAPM), and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • Extensive knowledge of adopted building codes

  • Proficiency in MS Project, or other construction management solutions

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business, management, facilities management, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
