Shire Supply Chain Lead in Dunboyne, Ireland

Primary Duties

The Supply Planning Lead will lead Supply Chain operations for our new state of the art single use multi-product biotech facility in County Meath, Ireland. This facility will manufacture enzyme replacement and antibody-based therapies for Shire, the leading global biotech company focussed on rare diseases . Key responsibility is all Suppply Chain operations on site. This role is a critical role on the site leadership team to create value for our patients.Directly responsible for supply chain planning team (master planners, production planners, analysts, planner buyers and process owners) and warehouse team.Responsible to oversee all supply chain processes providing leadership and directions to maximize service levels, inventory turns and efficiency. Actively support plant Long range capacity planning (LRCP) and lead monthly plant Sales & Operations (S&OP) processes.


Job Function and Description

Plant operative mechanisms and objectives

  • Accountable for service levels, materials availability and inventory goals.

  • Participate in Plant SLT and Plant project portfolio management.

  • Support Plant Manager for weekly schedule adherence (WSA/SNAP) meeting.

  • Lead plant Supply Chain council.

  • Works with quality, manufacturing, PDTS, suppliers, logistics provider (internal and external) in support of business objectives.

Planning processes

  • Support Long Range Capacity Planning processes.

  • Actively participate to the Budget and Forecasts preparation.

  • Lead the monthly plant S&OP process.

  • Oversight for the monthly planning processes at site level

Material Management

  • Support the planner/buyers team for issues management and to establish general material planning policies.

  • Actively participates in business review meeting with suppliers in order to assess current performance and define future supply guidelines

Team management

  • Provide strategic, tactical and functional expertise on supply chain activities.

  • Provide direction and active support for escalated issues within supply chain area.

  • Responsible for local/global planning and warehouse cost centers

  • Create a high performing Supply Chain organisation through a robust recruitment and onboarding process.

  • Sustain this performance through lean leadership, robust learning and development planning, organisation talent reviews and communication planning.

  • In partnership with the site leadership team create and sustain a culture that will be a leder of excellence in safety, quality and continuous improvement.

  • Celebrate with use of proactive recognition tools that inspire teams and individuals.

Education and Experience Requirements


  • Degree in Supply chain, business administration or other related discipline.

  • More than 7 years of experience in Supply Chain Management.

  • Fluent in English

  • Strong leadership, communication and emotional intelligence skills

  • Project management skills

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and in particular Excel and powerpoint. ERP Experienced user (e.g. JDE / SAP)


  • APICS certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

  • Lean green belt.
