DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Cook 1, you will perform specialized cooking tasks at the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home. You will operate and sanitize kitchen equipment, prepare food items for regular and therapeutic diets, and record inventory. Additionally, you will assign and review food production tasks performed by the Food Service Workers and train new cooks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Part-time employment Work hours are 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM and 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with 30-minute lunch. Varied work shifts and days with rotating weekends and holidays. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Desirable Preparation for Work:

Experience in cooking or quantity food preparation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications: Completion of education related to foods, nutrition, dietetics, food service, or institutional management Formal baking training Possession of licenses or certifications Certification in ServSafe or other food safety related certifications Experience as a baker in a large volume preparation operation Experience using and converting standardized recipes Experience mixing, proofing, and finishing yeast raised products in a large scale service operation Experience baking and decorating cakes and pastries Experience in paid food service operations for geriatric and/or physically ill patient/resident populations Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
