This role is responsible for conducting training and evaluation of training programs. Training coordination will include communicating with appropriate RME business unit, operations management, and the training team to ensure that all training sessions are conducted on-time and to standard.

Responsibilities of this position also include delivery of instructor-led training classes for new hires, new skills (cross-training) and technical training refreshers as necessary. The person hired for this role must be able to manage the learning environment and report on testing results.

In addition, the Trainer will support the development of training materials. This will also include using surveys, quizzes, quality metrics and other available tools to evaluate the effectiveness of training and assess impact of technical training on RME business KPIs.

In order to be effective, the candidate should have completed post-secondary technical education, certification or other relevant credentialing programs for the role. In addition, successful candidates have prior practical experience which enables them to deeply understand and relate to the technical content and their audiences. They must be able to dive deep into the technical aspects of a topic and understand it themselves, and then translate that understanding into high quality training content and programs for other technical audiences.

Key job responsibilities

• Put health & safety best practices first in all work carried out ensuring compliance with all health & safety standards and regulations.

• Serve as the technical and professional example for all technician’s in the RME organization.

• Facilitate instructor led training, both in-person and remote, with safe work practices.

• Travel to sites (as required) to deliver training at field locations with safe work practices.

• Capture learner feedback through course surveys and provide direct feedback to drive course/program continuous improvement.

• Develop training plans and technical training materials to raise the bar for RME’s technical learning programs.

• Develop trainee evaluation exercises that achieve successful learner knowledge transfer.

• Work cross-functionally with local and central RME, Operations, WHS and other partner teams.

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on the full range of equipment within the Center of Excellence home site.

• Champion continuous improvement projects and standardization in the CoE space.

• Administer LMS and CMMs tasks such as scheduling, registrations, and labor booking.

• Support logistical coordination of training activities and remove barriers for customers/trainees.

• Meet all performance deliverables including individual RME training compliance.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

RME Technical Trainers are not only the face of the RME L&D team, but the entire RME organization and as such conduct themselves with outstanding professionalism.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience as a trainer and ability to manage a classroom of learners

    • Experience as a trainer and ability to manage a classroom of learners
    • • Advanced knowledge of automation and control systems, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
    • • Experience in advanced automation and industrial control systems for material handling equipment, including PLC programming, servo and variable frequency drives, vision systems, and electrical distribution systems; able to troubleshoot, recover from breakdowns or implement system work-arounds to maintain equipment production.
    • • Experience conducting planned maintenance, repairs and replacement of control cabinet components such as motor controllers, inverters, power supplies and industrial computers.
    • • Skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines; proficient in interpreting both mechanical and electrical drawings.
    • • Experience developing training materials, job aids and online tutorials.
    • • Excellent communication skills for the purpose of knowledge transfer and skill development.
    • • Excellent coordination and organization skills; able to work together with internal business partners and field leadership to deliver successful training programs.
    • • Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.
    • • 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.
    • • Has received formal training or accreditation in industrial controls/automation, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical or other related disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

- - • 2+ years of experience in adult facilitation/technical facilitation training environment.

- - • 2+ year of experience planning, delivering, implementing and assessing training.

- - • Experience with developing training documentation (lesson plans, procedures, reports, etc.).

- - • Ability to use multiple learning methods and link appropriate methods with subject matter.

- - • Ability to lead and influence others.

- - • Excellent written and verbal communication (multiple languages are a plus)

- - • Expertise in the following areas:

- - o Automated conveyors systems and controls

- - o Electrical and electronic principles

- - o Industrial Electrical

- - o Industrial Controls

- - o Industrial Electronics

- - o PLC programming

- - o Industrial PC literacy

- - o Knowledge of N.E.C.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $71,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $160,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
