Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Communications Coordinator in DUQUESNE, Pennsylvania

Job Summary                       

A member of the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team, reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Coordinator will work alongside MarCom team members to execute marketing, communications and administrative work in support of the entire organization. The incumbent will provide excellent internal client support, managing an individual portfolio of creative services projects, while also stewarding the entire creative services function, ensuring projects move through the design and execution process in a timely and accurate manner. The coordinator will also be supportive of internal communications and critical administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities       

Administrative

  • Manage the creative services process, ensuring internal marketing requests adhere to department protocol and are executed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure the MarCom photo and story portals are up-to-date and accurate, featuring time-relevant stories and images, with completed clearance forms for all public individuals
  • Maintain the approved marketing materials portal, ensuring items are relevant and up to date
  • Monitor and updated Neighbor CRM system to ensure collaborative storytelling
  • Assist in maintaining department strategic editorial calendar, including press releases, blog posts, videos, social media, etc.
  • Track the Food Bank's supply of promotional materials and other resources for awareness events, such as collateral, branded tablecloths, pull-up banners and giveaway materials
  • Serve as a liaison to Feeding America and Feeding PA to ensure compliance with communication plans, standards and other marketing opportunities
  • Coordinate the translation process for print marketing materials, working with translation vendor to ensure timely delivery
  • Manage the print production process, working with vendors to ensure high standards of deliverables, and ensuring timely delivery to internal clients
  • Provide strategic input and assist the External Affairs department in the planning and execution of Food Bank and partner specific events such as Empty Bowls dinner, galas, media 'thons', or other.

Creative Services

  • Maintain relationships with an internal portfolio of clients providing strategic guidance and timeline development, as well as project management and execution
  • Ensure marketing materials and all communications are in line with the Food Bank's style and brand guidelines
  • Create staff requested items such as workstation tags, business cards and other resources
  • Design, edit and deliver collateral updates for various print and digital materials
  • Coordinate the creation of the annual internal activities calendar
  • Curate internal communications content utilizing platforms including internal emails, marketing screens, the organization's intranet (SharePoint) and other tools as needed
  • Capture photos and videos of neighbors, volunteer work, and food distributions to help tell the story of the Food Bank

Communications

  • Create content (programmatic, staff, neighbor, volunteer) for newsletters, blog, website and other internal/external facing audiences
  • Edit, fact check and proofread content for marketing materials, the pressroom, blog, website and other materials as assigned
  • Support the digital media team in monitoring external messaging on Food Bank social media platforms

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Publi Relations or Journalism preferred
  • A minimum of 1-3 years' work experience in a similar role
  • Experience with a nonprofit organization is strongly preferred
  • Creative design experience in Adobe Design Suite and/or Canva strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
  • Strong writing skills for a variety of audiences and demonstrated ability to follow AP style writing for newsletters, annual reports and promotional materials with outstanding proof-reading skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to all constituents including neighbors receiving food assistance, volunteers, donors, elected officials and Food Bank employees
  • Strong self-motivator who exercises good judgment and ability to work as a team member.
  • Excellent planning/organizing skills, prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure excellent quality.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to back Criminal Background check and Act 33 & 34 Clearances
