Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of the organizational unit is to ensure that all vendor invoices are paid in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner in accordance to state, federal, and university guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the position is to perform the duties of an Accounts Payable Clerk in the University’s Accounts Payable Office. Position will audit keyed invoices for keying accuracy, purchase order compliance and system mapping; research and reconcile accounts payable transactions for discrepancies, payment status, etc. requested by vendors and/or campus department inquiries.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, competency in interpreting and applying travel policies and procedures and regulations mandated by the State and the University; knowledge of Banner INB or equivalent system; knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) Applications; knowledge of Concur/Travelink; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment.
Minimum Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Duties
The position must observe monitor, collect, and record fiscal data. assess the accuracy, validity, and integrity of data. coordinate and administer fiscal program activities and protocols. manage resources, monitor activities, and assess risks and quality control associated with the program. Specifically, prepare documentation and create financial reports. Possess the basic knowledge of the functionality of the Accounts Payable Office and as well as how the Office is intricately linked with the remaining units of the Comptroller Department and the University in its fiscal operations. Required Competency Knowledge - Technical
Duties
The position must possess knowledge of technical accounting, including the maintenance and reporting of financial accounting data. Ability to remain current in developments and trends in the area of accounts payable. Specifically, Mirosoft Office products with intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge, Finance ERP (Banner and or JAGGAER modules or similar).
