IQVIA Director, Laboratory Operations in Durham, North Carolina

We are seeking a Director, Laboratory Operations to join IQVIA Laboratories in a remote position.

You will be responsible for the operation, leadership, direction, and administration of laboratory testing in accordance with applicable governing clinical laboratories. You will also partner with executive and global leadership to establish strategy and ensure implementation to drive achievement of annual objectives and support long-term success.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing the overall operations of the clinical testing function of the laboratory organization, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Ensuring global consistency and strategic/operational alignment in local lab operations.

  • Maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service, collaborating with Quality Assurance staff on effective program development and implementation.

  • Establishing and implementing staff selection and training programs to ensure continuous education on testing procedures.

  • Ensuring laboratory staff comply with safety procedures and that the physical laboratory environment meets safety requirements.

  • Participating in the development and implementation of the department's operating budget, establishing standards for cost control and waste reduction.

  • Implementing new tests, equipment, programs, and procedures as needed, leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

  • Fostering a unified culture, facilitating collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork to improve employee engagement and operational results.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Some CAP/CLIA lab locations may require a BSc in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or cytotechnology.)

  • Typically requires over 12 years of experience in a regulated environment.

  • Over 5 years of line management experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of clinical testing procedures and applicable laboratory testing regulations.

  • Other equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • Strong operational focus with the ability to motivate a team to achieve shared goals within performance standards and budget.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $134,400.00 - $249,600.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
