Work Day/Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

This position is devoted to providing inventory and warehousing functions while supporting the inventory supervisor and provides customer service to Water & Sewer Maintenance personnel as needed, and other staff located within the Plant Engineering & Maintenance division.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performing more advanced transaction processing involving basic research, verification, reconciliation and mathematical calculations, as well as respond to internal and external customer questions and inquiries by communicating standard policies and procedures.

  • Primary responsibilities are to purchase and receive stock and non-stock parts and to provide inventory control of those items.

  • Contact vendors for price quotes, create purchase orders, receive items, and store and label inventory.

  • Establish minimum and maximum quantities needed on hand for stock items, research discrepancies, identify fast/slow/obsolete parts.

  • Completing the departmental monthly safety checklist, participating in monthly safety meetings, locating parts for special orders, receiving credits from vendors for returned parts, and submitting work orders for maintenance using the computerized maintenance management system.

  • Participate in periodic inventory audits comparing physical stock inventory against the computerized management system.

  • Researches vendor information and coordinates with vendors to request quotes; orders, receives, stocks and issues supplies, materials, and equipment; performs inventory cycle counts and audits; processes credit card requests; prepares batch payments; tracks shipments; monitors inventory levels; identifies purchasing needs; and inspects incoming supplies and materials to ensure compliance with applicable contract requirements and quality standards.

  • Prepares, scans, prints, submits, and/or maintains routine reports, purchase orders, requisitions, and other document; maintains files, records, databases, and online systems; reviews contract information; assists with preparing bid documents; enters and updates data; gathers and compiles information; and reviews work for accuracy and completeness.

  • Performs office support duties including maintaining office equipment, cleaning assigned areas when necessary, and providing input to process improvement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC)

  • 2 years of related procurement experience (Such as processing purchase orders, vendor management, and verifying transaction accuracy).

  • Forklift certification (not at time of hire, but required within 6 months of hire)

  • Experience using MS Office computer applications (such as Word, Outlook, etc.)

  • Must be able to perform job duties including lifting items up to 50 pounds.

  • Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire
