Primary Function of Organizational Unit
To assist sponsors, administrators, faculty and staff with pre award and non-financial post award services related to extramural funding for NCCU.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the administrators, faculty, staff and sponsors with pre award services related to extramural funding for North Carolina Central University. The pre-award administrator explains, interprets and implements, university, state and federal regulations related to grant activities. This position assists the campus with several areas of research administration including but not limited to: proposal submissions, award execution, and various agency requests.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly, Microsoft Word and Excel applications; comprehensive and working knowledge of Pre-Award grant administration (including proposal submissions, accepting awards, preparing subcontract agreements); minimum experience with Post-Award grant transactions; ability to comprehend and operate various grant related systems; ability to provide reports and respond to request for information from coworkers and customers; ability to provide expert guidance on pre-award grants management and resolve concerns from customers; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment. Experience with Banner, RAMSeS and/or Cayuse is a plus.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Function Information Analysis and Decision Making
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Accurately prepare budget allocation packages for new awards based on the grant agreement, and assist in the processing of pre-award and non-financial post-award sponsored research related activities for all projects managed by OSRP.
Function Communication and Marketing
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Participate in the update, development and implementation of internal policies/procedures. Provide reports and respond to request for information from coworkers and customers.
Function Program/Project Management
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Assist Post-Award Unit with processing budget transfers and budget modification requests as needed. Employee must analyze each transaction according to the award terms and conditions. Assist with subrecipient monitoring and risk assessment duties as assigned.
Function Consultation
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Responsible for assisting faculty/staff with proposal submissions for extramural funding. This includes assisting faculty/staff with proposals in sponsor websites, RAMSeS and Cayuse.
Function Leadership
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Ability to provide expert guidance on pre-award grants management and resolve concerns from customers. Able to work collaboratively with coworkers and others to manage situations as they arise regarding proposal preparation and submission. Ability to evaluate and make recommendations to leadership to assist in departmental improvements.

Ability to ensure compliance with financial and administrative award terms and conditions. Remain current and knowledgeable on Federal and other agency requirements and procedures concerning grants management.
