Veralto Senior UX Researcher in Dusseldorf, Germany

The Product Experience Design (PXD) team at Videojet is new, and our vision is to enable innovation through design and human-centered insights. THIS JOB IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO:

Our journey as a team is in its infancy, however it has significant support from our President and Senior Leadership Team as a strategic priority. As the second Researcher on the team, you will report to the Director of Product Experience with a dotted line into our Lead UX researcher to help shape and define the team and discipline from the ground up. You will have the scope and freedom to influence and make your mark, not only on the products we design, but how we play within the organisation. You won’t be alone in this journey, you’ll also have all the support you need from your team, and our senior leadership.

WITHIN YOUR ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Ensure products meet user demands, conducting tests that evaluate functionality, performance, and user-friendliness.

  • Conduct usability testing at all stages of the research and design process, from early discovery through to design validation and post-launch analysis on both software (HMIs & SaaS) and hardware.

  • Work with the lead UX Researcher, Lead UX/UI designer & PXD Director to plan, set up, execute, synthesize, and report global usability testing and research activities.

  • Assist with the recruitment of B2B participants using internal resources or partner and manage recruitment vendors for testing.

  • Prioritize research findings and requirements into must-haves, should-haves, and could-haves, balancing business and customer needs.

  • Define best-in-class tools and processes (Research Ops) to ensure we design and develop solutions that solve customer problems quickly and reliably.

  • Get to know our customers and users inside out, understanding their workflows, jobs, pains, and desired gains through extensive usability testing.

  • Collaborate with all areas of the business, including Product Planning, Product Management, R&D, Sales, Service, Senior Leaders, and manufacturing.

  • Maintain research outputs so they are shareable and traceable.

  • Help promote a collaborative, user centric culture through group analysis, workshops, and ideation sessions.

  • Able to communicate, demonstrate, and prioritize the value of design decisions to key project stakeholders and senior leaders.

  • Effective in working within matrixed organizations, balancing conviction in key ideas with sufficient flexibility to adapt to change.

  • Able to travel globally (up to 30%) specifically to our office in Lubeck, Germany. R&D Hubs: US, UK, and GER. Global Customer Base: Americas, Europe & Asia.

YOUR EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE WILL INCLUDE:

  • At least 5 years of experience working as a UX Researcher.

  • An educational background (Bachelor, MSc or PhD) is preferred, in any of the following areas: Experimental/Social/cognitive Psychology, Human Factors Engineering, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, UX Design or related field.

  • Proven track record in planning and executing usability tests.

  • Experience working within cross disciplinary teams.

  • Experience working with Hardware & Software

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal German and English.

  • Expertise in various usability testing methodologies, tools, and software.

  • Strong understanding of strengths and limitations of different research methods.

  • Ability to derive actionable insights from usability test results.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective user interactions during tests.

  • Experienced with documentation and presentation of usability findings.

  • Deep understanding of user-centric design principles.
