Staff Accountant

We have an opportunity for a for a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team in East Farmingdale NY!

As our Staff Accountant you will report to the Assistant Unit Controller and play a critical role in the general accounting and financial reporting process . You will have working knowledge of financial statements, general ledgers, and other foundational accounting principles . This role will participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close procedures, working closely with other departments. This position also has excellent advancement opportunities !

Location: East Farmingdale NY

Salary Information: $55,900.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Your Challenge:

  • Assist in AR Cash Receipts Posting as needed.

  • Assist in creating and distributing customer invoices as needed.

  • Process General Ledger transactions.

  • Post journal entries as part of the month-end close process for payroll accruals, bonus accruals, etc.

  • Oversee cycle counting process in compliance with company policies.

  • Assist in the capitalization of fixed assets when placed into service.

  • Assist in physical count of fixed assets.

  • Prepare and record journal entries related to balance sheet and income statement activity according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.

  • Works with Shared Service Center & Center of Excellence on accounting tasks.

  • Reconcile all assigned Balance Sheet Accounts.

  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing procedures.

  • Assist with internal and external audits.

  • Apply accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.

  • Other projects/reports as needed.

What you bring:

  • Accounting Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 3-7 years' experience working in an accounting field preferred.

  • MBA and CPA are a plus.

  • Experience with SAP is a preferred.

  • Working knowledge of GAAP and other applicable accounting principles.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, and other advanced formulas.

  • General proficiency in other Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Effective communication and organizational skills.

  • Well-organized and detail oriented.

  • Excellent critical thinking / analytical skills.

  • Ability to set priorities, work independently, and bring issues to resolution.
