Anesthesia Nurse Supervisor
Position Summary
Oversees and contributes (expected approximately 50% time) to the daily care of animal patients within the Veterinary Medical Center(VMC) to facilitate the service, teaching, and research activities of the small and large animal clinics of the VMC. Supervise, hire, and oversee training of technical staff; ensure that staffing levels are appropriate; manages communication regarding client care; performs duties normally associated with veterinary technician/nurse I and II to complete necessary work; continues to provide technician/nurse support to current service in VMC. Working schedule is Monday through Friday during daytime working hours, with occasional night and weekend hours if necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical or vocational school with coursework in Veterinary Technology; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in patient care, surgery, drug dosing and sterilization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; licensed as a Veterinary Technician with the State of Michigan, or attainment of such certification within one year of date of employment. This job may require AALAS certification.
Desired Qualifications
3- 5 Years as a Veterinary Technician in an educational setting; experience in anesthesia
Supervisory experience and training.

Summary of Physical Demands
Lifting and carrying animals or equipment up to 50lbs individually or 150lbs as a team.
Summary of Health Risks
TB risk or have potential exposure to animal or specimens with Mycobacterium bovis.
Work with animals or unfixed animal tissue.
Wear a respirator (does not include paper dust mask worn for comfort).
