Michigan State University(MSU) Lecturer-On-Call in East Lansing, Michigan

Position Summary

The Visiting International Professional Program (VIPP) is inviting applications for a fixed-term part-time instructor who can teach a course tentatively called "Discovering MSU & Beyond: All American Experiences." The course aims to provide an opportunity for international visitors to get the best out of their American experience by introducing MSU and Michigan resources, inviting relevant speakers, and arranging field trips and visits to those resources. VIPP, as part of MSU International Studies and Programs (ISP), provides long-term and short-term non-degree certificate programs to international visitors for professional development and capacity building. Our participants are seasoned professionals in their fields, ranging in age from 30s to 50s. They stay at MSU from 6 months up to 1 year and would like to try out everything Michigan and America have to offer. We are looking for a true Michigander who is knowledgeable about MSU and Michigan -- its history, natural resources, industry, and lifestyle -- and passionate about sharing them with international visitors. Because of the nature of this course, we are looking for someone who is outgoing, fun, passionate, friendly, well connected with Michigan communities, and has many outdoor and travel experiences. VIPP will support logistics for arranging field trips to various locations throughout Michigan.

This position will be filled per course/per semester, on an as-needed basis. Please note that our courses are six or seven-week long courses. Appointments are initially for one course per one semester, depending on scheduling needs, but may be renewed based on funding, scheduling need and performance.
