Cox & Company Senior Electrical Engineer in East Meadow, New York

Cox & Company, Inc. is looking for an outgoing individual that will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment and systems by performing the following duties.RequirementsDesigns electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for aerospace and defense purposes .per customer requirements in accordance with industry standards (i.e. IPC, Military and DO-160 standards).Prepares schematics, bills of materials, printed circuit boards, wiring harness, and assembly drawings to support active program development and legacy production builds. Ensure electrical design data package is organized, released and update as necessary.Design and implement electrical stress tests to ensure the reliability of the product.Design and implement test fixtures to verify the circuit boards’ and/or systems’ functionality for production testing.Ensure the electrical design is functional, robust, and cost effective.Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.Coordinates with other engineering disciplines and departments to ensure overall system form, fit, function and safety requirements are achieved.Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers. Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment. Determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products in accordance with system requirements.Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components.Determine power and load requirements/restrictions.Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate company automation standards.Work with vendors and sourcing to define technical requirements for the product/components.Coordinates with quality assurance to support production and required procedures.Coordinates with purchasing and manufacturing planners to support obsolescence issues. Perform verification/validation of new sources.Coordinates and prepares engineering change notice (ECN) per configuration management standards.Directs and coordinates repair assistance of production and field returns.Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.Uses computer assisted engineering software to design and perform engineering tasks.Strong Digital and Analog hardware design experience at the product level using: Operational Amplifiers, Instrumentation Amplifiers, Comparators, RTD sensors, SCR, Mosfet, Gate Drivers, DC/DC Converters, LDO Linear Regulator, Opto-Isolators, TVS/Diode/Zener, Capacitors, Inductors, Microcontroller, TTL/CMOS logic, Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Switches, Electromechanical and Solid-State Relays, Thermal Switches, etc.Willingness to travel on a limited basis.Minimum of least 5 years of continuous hardware development experience (Recent Experience).Physical circuit board layout experience (e.g. OrCAD, Mentor, Cadence Allegro, Express PCB) is a plus.The ability to work closely with other engineers, lab technicians, product management and customers in a team environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of analog circuit calculations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Minimum Salary: 120,000 Maximum Salary: 165,000 Salary Unit: Yearly
