Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
Basic Duties
Provide technical product support to Altorfer technicians on components/system issues that may occur on the machines that we sell and support.
Assist technicians on assignments through the repair process to ensure timely, cost effective and quality repairs are being completed.
Coordinate and work with Caterpillar engineers in resolving product issues.
Conduct Product Problem Management subject matters at monthly store conference calls.
Support/assist the Training Manager on training projects that include various training presentations.
Demonstrate leadership skills when working with various techs and at times customers to support their needs.
Provide occasional customer technical assistance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
5 years of previous experience as a Caterpillar heavy equipment/earthmoving technician or 2 year technical degree with emphasis on diesel engine or earthmoving repair is required.
Must have a solid understanding of applied failure analysis.
Effective oral & written communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills are needed.
Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
Computer literate, familiar with programs such as SIS-Web, Parts Integrator, Dealer Business Systems and Microsoft product required.
Must possess good time management skills and excellent attention to detail.
Must be a self-starter
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position works in a shop/office environment. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 75lbs. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate to high. Noise level in the office environment is usually moderate to low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional travel may be required. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
