About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer position is a critical position, and the selected individual will work as part of our Applied Rooftop Team to create efficient, high-quality, and reliable electrical and control systems for rooftop units. You will drive control system electrical hardware specifications and software integration efforts for new Applied Rooftop products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide electrical engineering requirements to design, implement, test, integrate, and sustain electrical systems for applied rooftop units.

  • Design and own power and control harnesses for applied rooftop units.

  • Work with control box supplier to integrate new control boxes into RTUs, owning control box – unit interface.

  • Drive electrical and systems engineering technical discipline and process improvement with new ideas and introducing new tools, including model-based design and model-based systems engineering.

  • Work with rooftop unit systems engineers to understand requirements and applications and translate them into a specific control system, software, and hardware specifications.

  • Collaborate with quality, operations, and service teams to provide electrical and system support.

  • Participate in project planning activities, including scoping and sizing of work tasks.

  • Lead design reviews and contribute to improved designs.

  • Actively participate in the project planning, sizing of development tasks

  • Create, refine and clarify requirements with engineers from a different technical background.

  • Evaluate and respond to customer questions and issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years experience in: reading, modifying electric schematics; writing electrical systems requirements; wiring, connectors, and harnessing, OR Master’s degree in electrical engineering with 3+ years experience in: reading, modifying electric schematics; writing electrical systems requirements; wiring, connectors, and harnessing.

  • 3+ years experience in electro-mechanical design, electrical analysis, and electrical protection power consumption.

  • Minimal travel (5%) to customer sites, field locations, and other Carrier sites.

Preferred Job Requirements (nice to have):

  • MS degree in Electrical Engineering (or Systems Engineering with electrical background) with 5 + years of experience.

  • Ability to write specifications, test plans, and document designs.

  • Usage experience of field communication protocols (MODBUS).

  • Understanding of state of the art in electrical and power technologies.

  • Proven capability to improve quality and efficiency of development methods.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.

  • Capable of providing technical leadership to junior engineers, self-directed and highly motivated.

  • Analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to learn new tools, methods and technologies as requirements evolve.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Comfortable with both collaborative and independent work in a global team setting.

  • Ability to understand the end-user application of products and impact on controls.

  • Experience with leading projects and small teams with the development of electrical systems and solutions.

  • Proactive with the ability to demonstrate the capability to innovate, propose new ideas, show curiosity, question the status quo.

Pay Range:

$74,181 - $130,206 Annually
