DESCRIPTION OF WORK In the role of a Survey Technician, you will be responsible for operating various survey instruments to gather essential data required for surveying tasks. Your responsibilities will also encompass the calculation and verification of field notes, as well as the documentation of these notes and the creation of necessary sketches. Additionally, you will conduct field visits to county courthouses to collect vital project information, including details on surface and mineral ownership, deed descriptions, and other pertinent data. Proper maintenance and storage of equipment will be part of your duties. The position may involve serving as a lead worker, which includes acting as the chief-of-party during routine surveys, and stepping into this role in the absence of the chief-of-party. You will also be expected to promote the mission of the Department. Furthermore, you will input relevant data into designated formats to comply with the data quality standards established by guidance, training, and policies across all of the Department of Environmental Protection's electronic data systems, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of entries while utilizing system-specific tools to minimize duplicative entries and data quality issues.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890.00  (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology. Conditions of Employment: This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. Other Requirements:
