Burlington Associate Relations Manager in Edgewater Park, New Jersey

Overview

Supporting Burlington’s open door and alternate dispute resolution program, the Associate Relations Manager will respond to concerns reported through the integrity hotline as well as other sources. The Associate Relations Manager is responsible for fostering a positive work environment by managing associate relations programs, addressing associate concerns, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to improve associate satisfaction, resolve conflicts, and promote a culture of respect and collaboration.

A Day in the Life:

  • Lead the resolution of associate relations issues, including workplace disputes, disciplinary actions, discrimination, harassment, and other escalated matters, through comprehensive investigations and appropriate recommendations. Oversee Burlington’s Open Door Program and STEPS (alternate dispute resolution) Program.

  • Exemplify the company’s Core Values by fostering trust and respect among peers and leadership, working collaboratively, and prioritizing thorough investigations for various workplace concerns.

  • Ensure adherence to labor laws and regulations through vigilant monitoring and proactive measures.

  • Partner with management to effectively address performance issues and disciplinary actions.

  • Develop and deliver training programs on employee relations topics, such as conflict resolution and communication skills.

  • Provide coaching and support to managers on employee relations matters.

  • Enhance workplace culture through initiatives that boost employee engagement and satisfaction.

  • Analyze employee feedback and data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Maintain meticulous documentation and tracking of all workplace investigations in the case management system.

  • Ensure timely and efficient closure of all matters, including providing follow-up documentation as necessary.

  • Oversee the onboarding process for new leadership members, ensuring that associate relations onboarding materials are current with emerging concerns and trends.

  • Facilitate regular touchbase meetings with the HR Director.

  • Manage assigned compliance projects, including responding to inquiries, maintaining confidential files, organizing and submitting compensation requirements, and collaborating with Corp/DC/Store teams as needed. Provide updates on mandates as necessary.

You'll Come With:

  • 5+ years of experience within Employee Relations supporting multiple managers or business units.

    • Retail industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations governing employment (EEO, wage and hour, associate benefit, leave).

  • High level of integrity and the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.

  • Exceptional time management, prioritization, organizational, and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail. Prompt in responding to issues with the ability to operate under pressure and to be very flexible at all times, including reprioritizing when necessary.

  • Ability to deliver effective results and meet tight deadlines and targets.

  • Strong problem solving skills; must be proactive and take initiative and have the ability to work independently.

  • Strong interpersonal/people skills; ability to establish and build partnerships with all levels of management and business partners.

  • Must have superior communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create and edit business correspondence.

  • Must have strong computer skills preferably in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly master new systems and software applications.
