Fairview Health Services Housekeeping Aide in Edina, Minnesota

Overview

M Health Fairview is looking for a Housekeeping Aide at our Southdale location , in Edina , MN.

This position will perform cleaning duties as assigned to keep the facility orderly, attractive, clean and sanitary.

This position is represented under the union SEIU.

Location : Southdale hospital, located in Edina

Hours : 40 hours biweekly, with every other weekend dedication

Shift : Evening

Schedule

Week 1:

Mon: 4:00pm - 12:30am

Fri: 4:00pm - 12:30am

Sat: 4:00pm - 12:30am

Sun: 4:00pm - 12:30am

Week 2:

Fri: 4:00pm - 12:30am

Responsibilities Job Description

  • Waste Collection : Regularly collecting and disposing of medical waste, including biohazardous materials such as used needles, soiled linens, and other potentially infectious materials. This involves adhering to strict safety protocols to prevent exposure to hazardous substances.

  • Sorting and Segregation: Properly sorting different types of waste, such as recyclable materials, general waste, and biohazardous waste, to ensure appropriate disposal methods are followed.

  • Compliance: Adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines governing waste disposal and sanitation in healthcare settings, including those set by local health authorities and environmental agencies.

  • Infection Control: Following established infection control protocols to minimize the risk of spreading infections or contaminating the environment while handling waste materials.

  • Teamwork: Collaborating with other members of the environmental services team, as well as healthcare staff, to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and personnel.

  • Emergency Response: Being prepared to respond to emergencies such as spills or accidents involving hazardous materials, following established procedures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and patients.

  • Training and Education: Participating in training programs to stay updated on best practices in waste management, infection control, and occupational safety, and providing guidance and support to other staff members as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications & Other Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required.

  • Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation practices.
