Your Opportunity

Our Edmonton office has an opportunity for an electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) within our Community Development Group. Community Development provides services within the City of Edmonton, the Calgary region, and across Alberta. We work on a wide variety of private sector projects that include residential, industrial, and commercial developments.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to the Community Development electrical team.

  • Design and review electrical plans, coordinate with other shallow utilities including telecommunications and gas.

  • Assist the project management team on a variety of projects with work that could include the following tasks: contract quantity take-offs and production of tender documents for electrical and streetlighting designs.

  • Assist with preparing voltage drop and lighting calculations using Excel and AGI32.

  • Prepare drawings and figures using AutoCAD software to support the team.

  • Communicate with team members from our civil, planning, and landscape groups.

  • Contribute to project meetings with internal team members, external consultants, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Willingness to work in a challenging and fast-paced work environment.

  • Prepare drawings for a variety of electrical utilities and municipalities in Alberta.

  • Participate in site meetings, construction, and completion inspections.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • The candidate will be highly motivated, willing to work in both an individual and team-oriented environment, and ready to participate in a wide variety of projects.

  • The ability to efficiently work and collaborate remotely and in the office.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creative problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience in AutoCAD, AGI32, and Microsoft Teams is an asset.

  • A valid driver’s license.

Education And Experience

  • Electrical Engineering Degree preferred

  • EIT standing with APEGA, This opportunity is specifically for an Engineer-in-Training position.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field visits and work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
