The Service Project Sales Representative reports directly to the Edmonton Service Division Manager and is responsible for selling projects to existing and potential customers. As a member of the Service Sales team of the Edmonton office, you will work with customers to design and estimate solutions that achieve their business objectives and assist in the development of long-term customer relationships with Black & McDonald.

Duties & Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Takes an entrepreneurial role securing negotiated mechanical / electrical service project work

  • Understands customer requirements and sells short and long term solutions

  • Maintains and enhances customer relationships through ongoing business development

  • Qualifies opportunities, negotiates client needs and gains commitment

  • Estimates and designs effective proposals in competitive situations

  • Develops presentations and accepts agreements on behalf of Black & McDonald

  • Completes concise reporting of sales backlog, sales plan activity and monthly results

  • Continually pursues personal and professional development

EDUCATION and WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree or college diploma in business, engineering or related field; in lieu of this, previous work experience as a qualified tradesperson and background in estimating will be considered

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Commercial and Industrial mechanical systems, and/or in a technical occupation related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical or controls

  • Building Automation controls experience is an asset

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SalesForce)

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to shift priorities

  • Communicates effectively and is innovative in solving customer issues or concerns

  • Professional in all dealings with trades, office staff and customers

  • Willing and able to travel to client sites, as required
