WSP USA Senior Mechanical Engineer, Buildings in Edmonton, Alberta
WSP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our mechanical team located at our Edmonton office. You will collaborate on multi-disciplinary teams leading the design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems and be responsible for project work from conceptual design through to completion. The project portfolio will range from commercial and institutional buildings through to industrial complexes. Mission critical data centre, health care and/or Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) experience is an asset for the applicant. Technical expertise, creating value, building and maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to a team of designers/technicians are integral parts of this role.

A day in the life:
Responsible for taking design projects from start to finish working collaboratively with a multidiscipline team and applying a high level of technical expertise.
Delegate to and coordinate a design team while providing technical support and mentoring of junior staff.
Research and utilize technical resources such as our Decarbonization Team and Digital Solutions Group to implement new technology in designs as required to meet clients’ objectives.
Utilize industry specific software and related technologies in design and analysis.
Participate in client management, business development and proposal preparation activities.
Manage project financial reviews including maintaining budgets and meeting deliverable milestones.

Excellent leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem solve in an integrated team environment.
University degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Currently registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA or other Canadian Province or Territory.
Good working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.
Proven working knowledge with Revit.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards including, but not limited to, the National Building Code, ASHRAE, and NFPA.
