Major/Essential Functions:

  • Provides academic and clinical instruction within the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and clinical experiences for students

  • Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to rank

  • Reports directly to the programmatic associate dean/dean

  • Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university

  • Teaches students in the clinical, laboratory and classroom settings

  • Assumes responsibility for and/or participates in the planning and organization of courses to which assigned

  • Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students

  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of school, program, course and student activities

  • Plans professional development activities for self, such as continued education offerings workshops, professional meetings, etc.

  • Participates in programs, school and university committees and in other activities associated with professional status

  • Maintains membership in and participates in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations

  • Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in clinical, classroom and laboratory teaching

  • Conducts research or practice activities appropriate to rank

  • Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the guidelines of qualification for faculty appointment rank

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DNP or PhD in Nursing or related discipline from an accredited program

  • Effective verbal/written communications skills and proficiency in English language

  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instructional design and implementation

  • Awareness of current issues/trends in nursing and higher education

  • Demonstrate leadership skills

  • Demonstrate achievement in scholarly and research activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters of Sciences in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program

  • Experience in scholarly activities such as publications/presentations or advance nursing practice

  • Eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or compact state recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
