  • JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the safe and accurate operation of the production department to efficiently produce scheduled products of quality and quantity consistent with plant objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervision of all employees assigned to area of responsibility.

  • Trains and evaluates new temporary and regular employees with established department policies.

  • Plans staffing needs and evaluates production requirements based on daily workload.

  • Works with HR and manufacturing supervision on staffing requirements.

  • Makes daily check of labor reports to determine inefficiencies and takes immediate corrective action.

  • Works with manufacturing engineers to ensure line processes are correct and proper tooling is being used on all workstations.

  • Responsible for communicating employee expectations and providing the tools to perform job functions and adhere to safety policies.

  • Lead problem solving's and continuous improvements activities using A3/5 Why's process to obtain root cause and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure daily walkthroughs are done with the outgoing supervisor. Ensure that 5S is being followed by all employees on a daily basis and address concerns as needed.

  • Perform audits on scrap reports, in process quality inspections and standard work expectations.

  • Meets required production and quality goals as determined by the department management staff.

  • Ensures all safety policies and procedures are followed and maintained within the assigned area of responsibility.

  • Performs investigations and completes appropriate documentation regarding any employee job incidents and/or near misses.

  • Works closely with personnel in the Production, Quality, Maintenance and Warehouse/Shipping and Receiving departments.

  • Participates in department planning meetings and task forces concerning quality and other production related topics.

  • Maintains a safe and healthy workplace for employees in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Promotes a positive attitude towards safety. Adheres to the requirements of safety policies as well as safety rules, instructions and procedures.

  • Practices continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste. May participate in continuous improvement teams.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Post high school education is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of four years of actual experience as a Lead Person in a manufacturing environment is required. Previous supervisory experience operating machinery or performing mechanical repairs to machines is required.

SKILLS:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Basic level of MS Office is required. Intermediate experience is preferred.

Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations, remaining focused on the ultimate objective.

Capacity to work within a team-oriented and collaborative environment.

Utilize basic measuring and observation equipment.

Ability to read and understand work instructions.

Ability to understand cause and effect of machine adjustments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Production Supervisor works in a manufacturing environment without climate control and is subject to temperatures similar to the outside environment. Noise levels within the environment average 85 decibels and personal protective equipment (including hearing protection) is required. May spend approximately 0-15% of time working in a normal office environment utilizing appropriate office equipment such as: computer keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted practicing proper body mechanics.

  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing on concrete surface up to 75% of the workday.

  • Sitting in meetings or at computer work station 0-25% of workday.

  • TRAVEL:

0-10% travel may be required.
