Small Business Administration Loan Servicing Assistant in El Paso, Texas

Summary This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Capital Access (OCA), Office of Financial program Operations (OFPO), El Paso Disaster Loan Service Center in El Paso, TX. The Disaster Loan Servicing Center assists customers from the time the proceeds of a disaster loan are disbursed until the loan is paid off. The incumbent is responsible for assisting Loan Specialists in servicing or liquidating a full range of disaster business and home loans. Responsibilities As a Loan Servicing Assistant, GS-1101-07, you will be responsible for: Analyzing financial statements of SBA disaster loans, which are considered potential problems; comparing present with previous statements to determine trends in financial conditions and compliance with loan terms and conditions; and following up with borrower or bank on any serious violations noted. Independently servicing a selected portfolio of disaster loans, concentrating on those over 30 days past due by initiating collection letters and contacting borrowers who are less delinquent in order to determine the cause of the delinquency and to propose corrective action for resolving the problem. Initiating and signing as recommending official actions including charge-off, deferment, due date change, extension of maturity, payment modification, return to servicing, referral to liquidation. Making recommendations to the loan specialist, and initiates remedial action as determined necessary (i.e., letter, MA visit, etc.). Answering written requests from banks and borrowers and other financial institutions concerning payments on loans, interest rates, loan balances, terms conditions, and other credit information; is mindful of Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts when responding to such requests. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized Experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: performing a variety of servicing, collection and liquidation administrative duties applicable to consumer and commercial loans, such as preparing correspondence, data entry, filing and researching; and retrieving loan information to include initiating and recommending liquidation actions; and providing technical guidance to new/lower graded employees.
