Job Summary

Maintains the condition, yield and efficiency of all machines, through problem analysis (troubleshooting). Perform emergency maintenance and scheduled preventive maintenance on injection molding machines, molds, and extrusion lines. Hang molds, complete change overs to molds and machines. Obtain spare parts and technical information for spare parts.

Under general supervision receives instructions by way of electronic transmission, verbal, or written from Supervisor regarding production maintenance or troubleshooting tasks.

Job Details/Responsibilities

  1. Associate is responsible to follow requirements of TMC Quality system, including but not limited to: process controls, inspection procedures, document/data control, and change control practices.

  2. Maintain operational status of all injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, molds, and extrusion lines. Perform complex repairs effectively and safely to achieve maximum production time.

  3. Process responsibilities include: Hanging molds, completing change overs, operating molding machines, loading programs, completing paperwork, and diagnosis part problems as machine, mold or process issues.

  4. Mold Maintenance responsibilities: Disassemble and assemble molds using care not to damage tooling, use of precision equipment to troubleshoot and measure tooling, use Solid Works and drawings to check and order tooling. Troubleshoot tooling problems including Hot Runner Systems.

  5. Machine Maintenance Responsibilities: Diagnosis injection molding machine problems, determine if problem is electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical and repair as needed.

  6. Order spare parts, maintain inventory on all electrical components, and monitor usage, improve or change application of parts (finding better more durable parts), interaction with vendors, and pricing.

  7. Tooling inspection, ability to use precision measuring equipment to complete incoming tooling inspections.

  8. Provide training to personnel.

  9. Maintenance of documentation.

  10. Participates in project performance team meetings on behalf of the job unit in order to provide ideas, methods, or processes for unit/company performance improvement.

  11. Performs other job related duties assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Position requires gowning procedures for controlled environment. Typically works around high speed machinery, hydraulics, electric, and pneumatics requiring Lockout Tag out Procedure to be followed and close attention given to safety. Will require the use of eye protection, as needed and hearing protection when working in high noise level area. Conditions physically demanding when high number of machine break downs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical and pneumatic systems required

  • Knowledge and experience with hydraulic systems is required. Applicant must be able to follow and understand hydraulic schematics.

  • Knowledge and experience with electric is required. Applicant must be able to read and understand electrical schematics.

  • Considerable standing, reaching, pulling, stooping, etc., with occasional assistance lifting of weights up to 100 lbs.

  • Requires hand eye coordination in making precise and critical adjustments.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Typically requires 5-7 years experience in molding machine maintenance

  • Typically requires 5-7 years experience with both hot and cold runner mold technology

  • Requires Industrial Electric training with a degree or certification or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with Solid Works is preferred

  • Arc Flash Training is preferred

  • Experience working in a regulated industry is preferred

  • Industrial safety training is preferred
