Materion Decontamination Maintenance Laborer in Elmore, Ohio

Starting Pay Rate is $21.14 an hour!

As a member of the department operating team, individual is responsible for performing job duties of the Decontamination Department which focuses on promoting environmentally safe and aesthetically clean working conditions throughout the Elmore facility.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Participates in the continuous improvement process by making suggestions to Supervisors and Leads.

  • Uses a variety of cleaning techniques including vacuum cleaning, high pressure washing, steam cleaning, machine scrubbing, sponging, and mopping to maintain required levels of plant cleanliness as needed.

  • Operates a variety of heavy, medium, and light duty snow handling, road cleaning, material handling, material hauling, grass/weed cutting, weed control, running buy sprayer, and other equipment, vehicles, or hand tools in the performance of assigned asks.

  • Maintains plant roadway cleaning to facilitate dust control.

  • Performs work from elevated platforms, scaffolds, ladders and other devices to provide overhead cleaning activities.

  • Ensures the safety of equipment, including any required inspections.

  • Takes corrective action if equipment is not working properly.

  • Must be aware that performance of work could cause minimal quality problems through contamination from dislodgment of dirt or dust when cleaning over production equipment.

  • Assists in training new employees as needed.

  • Uses various solutions and compounds in the performance of decontamination operations.

  • Empties trash and steel hoppers plant wide.

  • Performs necessary yards and grounds work, such as mowing, weed removal, tree cutting, etc.

  • Implements plant snow removal plan to include salting walkways and snow removal.

  • Moves office furniture as needed.

  • Ensures the proper disposal of electronic waste.

  • Collects and maintains paper shred barrels for proper disposal.

  • Assists in preparing conference rooms for meetings.

  • Sets up and closes campground and fishing pond.

  • Ensures that all housekeeping requirements are met.

  • Individual must perform to Standard Operating & Safety Procedures and Quality Procedures to maintain material flow to internal and external customers.

    REQUIREMENTS: ​

  • Individual must have a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team to meet demands.

  • Must be able to follow simple written and oral instructions.

  • Requires on-the-job training to learn operation of equipment and various cleaning techniques associated with the job.

  • Must possess basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office products and email.

  • Must demonstrate mechanical ability.

  • Must have good verbal and written skills.

  • Must have knowledge of basic math skills.

  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to provide customer service.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
