Under the direction of the Director of Fabrication Solutions, the Fabrication Solutions Engineer will efficiently and effectively work with Sales, Marketing, Product Management and customers to develop and manage programs that meet customer requirements. The engineer could work with both Beryllium and Composites programs, or Alloy programs. The engineer will also work with multiple outside manufacturing partners as part of the program development and management. The engineer will also perform cost versus design trade studies for internal and external customers. This position is part of a team of professionals that support each other as needed, and are safety, customer, and results focused.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide cost quotations and lead times on inquiries to customers
Review all documentation and work with Contract Administration and Customer Service to insure proper evaluation of inquiry or order. This requires detailed contract review of flow downs from the customer
Work with and develop internal programs to meet customer requirements. This includes but is not limited to the following:
Determining proper method of manufacture.
Determine Internal or External Sources of Manufacture
Manage both the internal and external (vendors) to ensure program meets requirements
Ensure all necessary spec reviews are complete
Ensure all SAP planning is properly executed
Significant interaction with customers and vendors
Maintain budget control of approved expenditures to ensure realization of project goals. (Gross Margin targets are met).
Continuously update project schedules to maintain progress to avoid deviations to plans that could result in lost time or margin.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the Fabrication Solutions group
Maintain adequate records of all project activities and consolidate them at completion to ensure documentation of results is available for future orders.
Prepares proposals and technical presentations in support of customer inquiries or quotations.
Investigate customer complaints as required, providing root cause analysis and corrective actions
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required (preferably in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering); MS degree a plus
1 to 5 years of experience as an engineer
Design, Process, or Quality engineer preferred
Advanced degree in lieu of experience
Ability to think analytically while maintaining a creative edge
Good Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Products
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
Ability to utilize 3D computer aided design tools
SolidWorks experience preferred
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
