Robert Half Tax Director in Emeryville, California
Description
Our client in Emeryville is seeking an interim Tax Director for a 3+ month engagement. This role will involve leading and enhancing the internal tax function and formulating tax strategies to bolster our client's growth ambitions. The Tax Director will be deeply involved in the financial specifics and will translate them into operational and strategic opportunities. This role requires 3 days onsite and is expected to pay between $90-$100/hr. DOE.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of tax returns while monitoring tax audit activities and ensuring resources are available for support
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual tax accounting and reporting requirements
• Implement forward-thinking strategies and creativity to refine systems, tools, and processes to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization
• Collaborate with operating management on tax issues and accounting personnel on tax accounting issues
• Evaluate and manage relationships with external tax advisors
• Concentrate on process improvements and suggest system implementations as needed to facilitate growth and efficiency
• Support the development of business initiatives as needed to determine proper tax treatment/impact including new market expansion and debt, financing, and M& A transactions
• Display strong communication skills, explaining complex technical matters and risks to executive management
• Manage projects and handle competing priorities effectively
• Be a proactive leader who can guide the company’s thinking on tax matters while maintaining flexibility to respond quickly to new business developments.
Requirements • Candidate must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role or related field.
• Must have a strong background in Public Accounting.
• Holding a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is mandatory.
• Previous experience working with a Public Company is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated expertise in Corporate Tax Compliance is required.
• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Corporate Tax Returns is essential.
• Experience in Tax Reporting is a significant asset.
• Knowledge and understanding of ASC 740 (Income Taxes) is mandatory.
