Unilever Head of Engineering & Manufacturing Excellence - Ice Cream in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey

Background & Purpose of the Job

This role will be the Head of Manufacturing Excellence and Engineering for the Ice Cream NA Business Unit. This role will lead the following areas:

  • Business Case development for innovation and cost transformation.

  • Factory of the Future definition

  • Collaborative Manufacturing Engineering Support

  • Continuous Improvement in Factories using continuous improvement methodologies.

    This role is responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with central Engineering on engineering master plans for factories.

  • Form a dedicated engineering team comprising both internal and external engineers and provide leadership to the team to execute the infrastructure strategy.

  • Define equipment needed for the factory of the future agile or high-speed equipment for both internal warehouse and production operations.

  • Define the glide path for the factory of the future by location to include Industry 5.0 technologies and inclusive of people

  • Ensure the basics of continuous improvement are implemented in the factories:

  • Run to Standard

  • Maintenance Excellence

  • SMED

  • EtC

  • Continuous Improvement Methodology (UMS).

  • Virtual Sites WoW and best practice sharing.

  • Technology aspects embedded in EEM, to deliver new projects OTIF.

  • End-to-end SC touching Customer Service, Suppliers, etc.

  • HR for Factories and template factory organization and blue-collar skills development.

    What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute the engineering plan stemming from the North American infrastructure and network study.

  • Develop and lead a team of internal and external engineering teams.

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders on execution.

  • Effectively communicate the progress against the plan.

  • Ensure that proper vertical startup and penalty clauses and adherence with engineering contractors and OEMs.

  • Deploy UMS training material to support the rollout of the program in the factory.

  • Deploy Tools and Methods (toolkits) to attack the major losses supporting and maintaining the standardization across the factories in the cluster.

  • Drive the deployment of MMP standards set up and coherent application. Analyze and report continuous improvement savings.

  • Scale specific factory’s UMS solutions (best examples/practices) across the categories, virtual sites, and other capabilities (SHE- Quality). Support expansion of effective solutions.

  • Expand the loss management framework beyond Manufacturing and have KPIs for interfaces with Manufacturing (OR losses).

  • Exploit new continuous improvement tools available in the market.

  • Support Customer Service to eliminate CCFOT Losses.

  • Support Categories to Implement Sourcing Strategy.

  • Influence and obtain a commitment from SCLT, cluster/country SC VP’s and peers, SU Directors to the manufacturing agenda.

  • Develop and manage Manufacturing skill base and talent.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

    Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations / engineering or equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of relevant Supply Chain experience with focus on Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations.

  • 8+ years as a manager or in leadership position, including responsibilities for the oversight of a team.

  • Experience optimizing supply chain integrated performance and setting a strategic vision.

  • Empowerment, Experimentation and Collaboration a must.

    Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA degree.

  • Prior IC experience.

  • Head of Factory experience. Proven track record of leading hourly team members.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $210,600 to $421,200. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible. Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
