The Principal Solution Engineer implements or enhances applications that meet the needs of end-users and achieve business goals by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations, then designing and implementing solutions, and technical workflows.

The Principal Solution Engineer will evaluate small to large complex project requests to define technical requirements, identify resources needed to participate in implementation, provide resource estimates, and technical skill sets required to successfully meet the business and technical goals. The Principal Solution Engineer works on several solutions at a time that tend to be of high complexity. They provide technical guidance to software engineering and application teams, and oversee the software engineers’ aspects of all projects.

The Principal Solution Engineer performs troubleshooting and issue resolution for highly complex software problems. Acts as a subject matter expert for software design, testing, and workflows. Will have the responsibility of mentoring all software engineers, and application analysts.

Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance in software design, development, and implementation activities.

Lead and participate in design reviews and recommend improvements.

Provide support in all phases of SDLC and ensure to deliver high-quality products.

Provide trainings, and mentor other Engineers and Analysts when required.

Analyze and troubleshoot complex application issues in a timely fashion.

Develop most effective technical solutions to meet business requirements.

Lead and work with other Engineers and Analysts in planning, prioritizing, and executing assigned tasks within deadlines.

Assist in risk assessment and mitigation activities.

Lead and attend team meetings to communicate project status and discuss about new ideas and any issues.

Recommend new technologies to ensure quality and productivity.

Facilitate meetings as needed

Assist in technical audits and make sure to implement audit recommendations.

Make business presentations to management when needed.

Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment, and by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Protects organization by keeping information confidential and safe

Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.

Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities.

Assist in maintenance and upgrades of existing software applications.

Willingness to learn Epic application systems and become certified in Epic

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Computer Science, Computer Engineer or related technical discipline or equivalent software experience.

7+ years of job-related experience

8+ years of experience as Cerner software/solution engineer, of which 3+ years as a senior Cerner software/solution engineer

Excellent communication skills.

Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle

Coaching and mentoring.

Ability to lead and collaborate in a team environment.

Able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

Pay Range

$51.66 - $74.91 /hour
