The Commodity Manager is responsible for chemical sourcing strategies and supply base performance for a defined business segment within the EPM Division. The development of strategies and management of the assigned supply base are achieved directly by the Commodity Manager and supports current corporate and regional metrics including, but not limited to, profitability, cash flow, sales growth and risk reduction.
Directly coordinates development, communication and implementation of commodity and negotiation strategies on a global basis. Strategies will focus on Total Cost of Ownership, Risk Reduction and current corporate and regional metrics.
Responsible for negotiating complex business agreements and other contractual instruments with a global supply base.
Drives all key sourcing decisions on global supply base for the defined business segment within the Division.
Responsible for communicating and managing changes in demand and/or material costs for raw materials by maintaining close communications with peers, supply base, sales, technology and manufacturing entities. Management of these changes includes expansion/contraction of supply base and insource/outsource of manufactured products.
Identification and management of issues related to flow, turn, and economic order quantities, length of supply chain, storage requirements, shelf life, and obsolescence.
Development and implementation of risk reduction activities for the defined business segment within the Division.
Travel to global manufacturing facilities and suppliers to facilitate strategy development/implementation, negotiations, development of global relationships and supplier manufacturing site evaluations. Travel may be up to thirty (30) percent of the time.
Competencies Required
Required
Experience with direct contract and price negotiations
Demonstrated past success in global sourcing and/or supply chain and value analysis with external suppliers
Understanding of MRP Systems, specifically supply chain transactions and master data
Microsoft 360 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint)
Work Experience
Required
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of supply chain experience
Preferred
- Five (5) to Eight (10) years of chemical sourcing experience dealing with chemical commodities
Education
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of these academic focus area: Business, Supply Chain, Chemistry, Engineering
Certifications
Preferred
Certified Purchasing Manager
ASQ or IASSC Green/Black Belt
Languages
Required
English
