DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program Specialist (DVOP) in a PA CareerLink career center, you will provide employment and training services to eligible veterans and eligible spouses who are facing significant barriers to employment.  You will assist in the development of an individual employment plan (IEP) for veterans receiving individualized career services to identify employment goals, objectives, and appropriate services.  Your tasks will also involve conducting comprehensive assessments of education, skills, and abilities for eligible veterans, identifying employment barriers, and assisting them in setting appropriate employment goals. You will provide both group and individual career coaching sessions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Erie.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of technical or paraprofessional employment services or veterans' employer outreach work, and a bachelor's degree; or

One year of experience interviewing the public to collect and identify customer needs, evaluating eligibility for programs, and researching data to make decisions, and a bachelor's degree; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

All positions must be filled by a veteran with preference in such appointments given to qualified disabled veterans as defined by Title 38, USC Chap. 41, Section 4101 (3).
