Here you’ll interact daily with team members during the problem resolution process and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our internal customers and their responsibilities.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Global Operations Equipment group, the Locomotive Test Process Engineer - Electrical & Mechanical Assembly/Testing will be responsible for Locomotive assembly, wiring, and test processes through Hi-pot, Battery Checks, Lighting, Multiple Unit Checks, Programming, Service, Self-tests, Air Brakes, Load, Vibration, Event Recorder, Radio, Track, Cab Signal, and various other tests based on final locomotive design requirements.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Minimum 4-year technical degree or equivalent Locomotive Test experience (Desired: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering).

  • Minimum 5 years collaborating with assembly, wiring, and trouble-shooting operations.

  • Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications/schematics.

  • Previous control and/or electrical assembly knowledge.

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to work closely with diverse team members.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have strong PC skills and ability to use Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, etc.

  • Must be self-directed, highly meticulous, organized, and flexible.

  • Must be able to use various mechanical/electrical hand tools for assembly operations as well as inspection equipment that is required for testing operations.

  • Position is primarily based in Erie, PA. (other global locations may be considered) or Fort Worth, TX.

  • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in the English language.

  • Ability to communicate utilizing a second language; Spanish, Russian, Turkish, etc.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Ability to understand the product drawings/documentation and relay this information to the customer/partner in order to meet assembly and test requirements per the contract.

Position includes but not limited to the following:

  • Product Drawings

  • Manufacturing Instructions and Standards

  • Technical Specifications

  • Documents and Standards of Quality Control

  • Equipment & Tooling Drawings and Techniques

  • Work closely with domestic & global personnel to fully comprehend the processes involved in the testing of the components through the locomotive level.

  • Create training documents and educate the customer/partner’s personnel on the technical processes required in various domestic & global locations to meet all contractual requirements.

  • Accountable for meeting the quality standards required for successful engineering validation of the manufacturing/test processes.

  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and globally for extended periods of time. Typically, 2-4 weeks each in duration, but as required per training/manufacturing schedules.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Exposure to shop floor requires wearing PPE

  • Walking, climbing, stooping, stooping, bending, lifting is all part of the hands on learning process
