Who will you be working with?

Our Erie, PA site is the largest facility under Wabtec; located on beautiful Lake Erie in Northern Pennsylvania and part of the Wabtec family of companies.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Operations Management Team, you will be responsible for the overall operations and delivery of key metrics to include safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost for exempt and hourly employees. You will be accountable for driving improvement processes to identify areas of opportunity for the business that will have continuing long-term benefits. Additionally, you will manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise and accurately forecast labor needs based on production forecasting to meet short- and long-range production goals.

What do we want to know about you?

Do you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or High School Diploma / GED) or 10 years of operations experience in a manufacturing setting (in lieu of degree requirement)

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in manufacturing

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in cross-functional environment

  • Effectively lead salaried and hourly teams

  • Ability to collect and analyze data to help drive decision making across the business

  • Adaptability to address complex issues while still delivering to the customer

  • Self-directed, detail oriented and highly organized

Desired Characteristics

  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • Experience working with a unionized workforce

  • Ability to effectively manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve them appropriately

  • Six Sigma Training

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications

What will your typical day look like?

  • Direct day-to-day operations and ensure business strategies and plans achieve profitability goals

  • Create, execute, and review operational policies and procedures

  • Manage assets, maintenance and tooling while driving cost reduction

  • Develop and maintain manpower forecasts

  • Develop and implement process/continuous improvement initiatives with cross functional team

  • Design performance metrics to provide traceability and advance tactical and strategic business goals

  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback to hourly and salary team

  • Maintain Safety and Quality standards by reducing the risk for hazards and defects

  • Ensure operational alignment with production plan and KPIs

  • Execute routine analyses using vested methods and technologies and/or contribute to technological developments in teams under supervision

  • Manage the recruitment, hiring, and training of salary and hourly employees

  • Lead communications and presentations with direct team and leadership

  • Lead cross functional initiatives that will improve operations in the Kitting plant and overall

  • Manage and develop team of front-line supervisors

What about the physical demands of the job?

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long durations of time and be mobile throughout the workday. Employee must be able to effectively communicate (talk and hear), and use hands and fingers to handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to operate a variety of automated office machines which includes a computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, etc. Must be able to move or carry objects or materials.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
