The incumbent will support the Silicone value stream, however, may be assigned to any of the Erie facility production areas (HCL, Silicone, Repair Station, or other support area). The incumbent will be assigned to 2nd shift. This person is accountable for planning, organizing, assisting and directing activities in assigned areas to produce quality products or services, on time, while assuring efficient use of materials, capital and labor.

This is an ITAR-restricted position that complies with the drug and alcohol testing regulations of the Department of Transportation (DOT) (49 CFR part 40) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) (14 CFR part 120).

  • Supervise 23-27 hourly team members.

  • Champion safety, encouraging the identification of opportunities for improvement related to process and/or equipment.

  • Evaluate production schedules and work hour requirements.

  • Interpret company policies and collective bargaining agreement while enforcing work rules.

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.

  • Support high performance teams through effective data collection, analysis, and problem resolution.

  • Lead and/or participate in Continuous Improvement projects along with actively promoting and implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques.

  • Support regulatory and customer audits.

  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

  • Maintain time, production and training records.

  • Provide regular feedback to employees, including documented coaching and counseling as needed.

  • Be an equal partner with Production Manufacturing Engineering, Production Quality Engineering, and New Product Introduction teams working together to identify and solve issues that arise during day-to-day Operations

  • Effective interpersonal, communication, coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills.

  • Working knowledge of industry processes and equipment along with knowledge of quality and material (MRP) systems and their application in a manufacturing environment.

  • A bility to work through technical issues using experience, knowledge, and technical experts when necessary.

  • Good conflict management abilities.

  • Ability to lead short to medium-term projects

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques found in Lean Manufacturing.

  • Ability to objectively evaluate the performance of others.

  • Ability to complete the job following all policies or procedures regarding safety, waste handling, and environmental regulations without direct threat or significant risk to the health, safety or environment.

  • Strong technical and manufacturing background.

  • 1 to 3 years related manufacturing experience.

  • 2 years leadership/supervisory experience

  • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of leadership experience strongly preferred; in lieu of degree, 10+ years of direct manufacturing leadership experience.
