FKC-Lake Shore, a division of Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc., is seeking an experienced, Mechanical Engineer to join our team as a Mechanical Design Engineer in our office in Evansville, IN. The Mechanical Engineer supports the design, manufacture, and installation of FKC-Lake Shore equipment, including hoisting and conveyance systems for the underground mining and heavy civil construction industries

DESCRIPTION:
The position is responsible for the analysis, engineering, design, and support of a variety of FKC-Lake Shore manufacturing projects - from concept to operation. The Mechanical Engineer will be instrumental to the engineering team in designing and specifying system components of products to ensure conformance with engineering best practices and performance specifications. The position will help develop standards for existing product lines; as well as provide pre-sales, project, and aftermarket product support.
As a mechanical design engineer at Frontier Kemper- Lakeshore you will have the opportunity to:
Demonstrate creativity and strategic thinking in anticipating and solving engineering problems, developing standards, and determining project objectives and requirements
Prepare and present project documents including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
Design mechanical systems, structures, and components
Work with vendors to acquire off the shelf components
Design modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures, and components
Review designs to ensure fit, function, and accuracy of engineering
Ensure compliance with safety standards related to system, structures, and components
Ensure the final solution complies with both customer requirements and FKC-Lake Shore standards
Test/Troubleshoot mechanical systems
Intermittent travel up to 25% as required
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
4 or more years of experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering; emphasis on machine design is beneficial
Strong project management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with hoists or hydraulic and pneumatic systems a plus
Experience in Drawing Development, GD&T, Welding Specifications, Document Control, Structural Steel, and Steel Fabrication
The ability to become a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) within 2 years preferred
Experience with Autodesk Inventor/Vault preferred but not required
