The Advanced Design Tools (ADT) team is a software organization which develops and maintains a portfolio of engineering tools for GE Aerospace (commercial and military divisions). This portfolio covers a wide range of applications, including scientific simulation, modeling, visualization. As a member of ADT, you will develop and support new and existing tools for the purpose of further developing our Aerodynamics tool portfolio. The primary area of applications will be in turbomachinery aerodynamics prediction and modeling for engine design. You will take an active role in daily development and support of our Aerodynamics design system. Your contributions will be directly aligned with GE Aerospace’s technology initiatives to invent the future of flight.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Operational management of engineering tool projects and supporting continuous availability of GE engineering applications to the design community.​

  • Defining/development and implementation of ADT tool build/compilation and release/distribution processes.​

  • Designing, developing, delivering and maintaining engineering software applications and projects. ​

  • Programming a component, feature and or feature set of an engineering tool or application.​

  • Engineering software lifecycle activities, including requirement analysis, documentation/procedures and implementation.​

  • Being a security evangelist helping engineers in secure implementation of technology stack in an enterprise. ​

  • Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across business. ​

  • Contribute to design discussions.

Functions:

  • Influence others on their decisions.

  • Implements a roadmap within their area of expertise.

  • Performs day to day operational functions related to engineering tools environment.

  • Implements industry best practices while focusing on productivity and optimization of engineering tool infrastructure.

  • Engages, leverages, and drives simplified processes.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to produce high-quality products.

  • Provide support to a 24x7 team.

  • Design and develop complex application software code in multiple languages.

  • Developing and executing integrated test plans.

  • Develops and deploys preventative and detective solutions to effectively mitigate risk.

  • Supports scripting and code instrumentation to select and ensure working tools.

  • Hands-on experience with front-end or back-end development.

  • Lead small projects with minimal oversight.

  • Capable of working with minimal direction on delivering solutions to customer ensuring industry best practices are met.

  • Focus on improvement and stability of the environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science with emphasis on engineering/science applications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in all or some of the following:

  • Engineering experience in turbo-machinery fundamentals and analysis

  • Software development, architecture and design.

  • Developing, coding, and deploying design tools

  • Software Development Operations (DevOps) and Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Software product planning and process

  • In user experience (software development)

  • In using and customizing engineering analysis software applications

  • Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong software programming skills with multiple languages (ex: Perl, Java, Python, C#, Visual Basic/VBA, JavaScript)
