WSP has an outstanding opportunity for an Early Career Environmental Compliance Consultant/Environmental Scientist with our Earth & Environment Team in our Exton, PA office (Hybrid). Your Impact

  • Assist with environmental compliance support and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments with training from senior EHS staff.Support multi-media environmental regulatory compliance programs for commercial and industrial clients including but not limited to NPDES/Stormwater permitting and sampling; SWPPP and other Pollution Prevention Plans; SPCC and storage tank management programs; RCRA Hazardous Waste and non-hazardous waste reporting; Tier II and TRI Reporting.

  • Work effectively in a team to provide support in compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, and plans.

  • Assist with environmental regulatory compliance audits.

  • Synthesize large amounts of information contained in regulatory files, environmental permits, and other environmental documentation.

  • Prepare written and verbal technical reports, including documentation of audits and field investigations, evaluation of regulatory findings and develop graphical and tabular presentations for data interpretation.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

  • Manage tasks according to client-approved scopes of work and deliver high quality reports on time and within budget.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Engineering, Earth Science or a related discipline.

  • 0 to 1 year of relevant post-education experience.

  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework

  • Strong analytical skills, independent problem solving, using knowledge gained from increasing experience.

  • Interest and proficiency in investigative work with high attention to detail is critical to this position.

  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, working as part of a team.

  • Self-sufficient, self-motivated with ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines is essential.

  • Job assignments may involve work on sites requiring cleanup of hazardous substances. Participation in an OSHA-mandated medical surveillance program will be

  • required, and safety training will be provided before being assigned to work on these sites.

  • Valid US driver’s license.

  • Must be willing to make trips on short notice, including to local sites, and travel via air or land, as needed. Overnight travel may be required.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of U.S. environmental laws including but not limited to RCRA, CERCLA, SARA, CWA, and CAA and New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania state environmental regulations. International regulatory knowledge a plus.

  • Experience conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments following ASTM International Standard E 1527-13.

  • Experience in the consulting or environmental industry.

  • OHSA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
