ICF 2025 Summer Intern, International Labor Research (Bachelors/Masters, Hybrid or Remote) in Fairfax, Virginia

Description

ICF is seeking a motivated intern to support our efforts in identifying, documenting, and addressing human rights violations and labor exploitation within global supply chains through various research methods across countries and industries. This work is done in support of the Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking (OCFT) at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB). This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fight against child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.

This is a full-time, 10-week internship expected to start in early June 2025. The work may be fully remote from any U.S. location or hybrid from our Rockville, MD office. At this time , we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with desk research, data collection, and report writing

  • Supporting quantitative and qualitative research activities

  • Helping to prepare materials for international research projects

  • Assisting in the management of research data and documentation

  • Contributing to the review of research materials and reports

  • Participating in team meetings and assisting with project coordination tasks

  • Writing and presenting in English

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in international studies, human rights, labor rights, public policy, international supply chains, or related fields (with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later)

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in international studies, human rights, labor rights, public policy, international supply chains, or related fields (with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later)

  • Experience conducting social science research

  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Stata, SPSS, NVIVO, Atlas TI)

  • Interest in global issues related to child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment at our offices in Rockville, MD and potentially with DOL staff in Washington, D.C.

  • Proficiency in Spanish or French

  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies

  • Experience with academic or professional writing

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$37,154.00 - $76,425.00
