Description

Robert Half is working with a great client in the service industry seeking their next Payroll Clerk. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter looking for growth in an exciting and challenging position. The ideal candidate would be able to effectively communicate with both the internal team and outside customers. The Payroll Clerk's job duties consist of data entry, reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution and providing statements to various departments. This Payroll Clerk opportunity is a long-term contract / temporary employment role located in Fairfield, California.

Key Points to Highlight:

  • Confirm timely processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles

  • Carry out regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger

  • Obey to current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes and other required reporting

  • Investigate pay practices related to FLSA, other payroll areas, and fringe benefit reporting to determine how those practices apply to advice management

  • Assess data entered by others in the payroll software to include, but not limited to salary/wage increases, benefit deductions, employee termination dates, and employee leaves of absence under FMLA or other unpaid leave

  • Handle quarterly and year-end payroll reports

  • Join forces Information Technology, Human Resources, and other internal business partners to ensure security protocols for pay systems

  • Handle voluntary deductions, as well as wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary authorities

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Payroll experience

  • Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing

  • Outstanding data entry skills

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Payroll software experience recommended

  • Ability to easily learn new systems

  • 1+ year of previous payroll experience

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must
